Sheet metal screws are screws designed for fastening sheet metal and other metal elements.
Sheet metal screws are particularly commonly used to connect parts with sheet metal that are not subject to significant loads.
A sheet metal screw is used to connect by drilling a hole in the sheet metal with a diameter smaller than the sheet metal screw diameter, and then inserting the pointed tip of the sheet metal screw into this hole. Then, screwing it in with some force causes grooves to be pressed on the edge of the hole, cooperating with the sheet metal screw thread, which ensures its relatively strong connection with the sheet metal.
Connections using sheet metal screws are convenient to use and quick to install, but wherever the need for multiple unscrewing and screwing of elements is expected or where greater durability of the connection is required - screws with nuts are used rather, or at least screws screwed into a previously threaded hole.
